Pick of the Week
This Satirical Thriller
Director Coralie Fargeat's unflinching satire examines the oppressive nature of women's appearance as well as the feared consequences of ageing. The veteran actress presents a brilliant performance in the role of Elisabeth, a 50-year-old actress reduced to presenting an aerobics show on TV. Edged out thanks to her unscrupulous employer Harvey, she undergoes a mysterious and gruesome process titled this experimental method. This creates a youthful duplicate called Sue, leading to a steadily more toxic connection between the two. This Friday, Paramount Plus
The Woman in Cabin 10
This classic whodunit thriller stars the talented actress as Laura, an ace reporter who opts for a break from writing about world issues to embark on an opulent ship alongside a terminally ill wealthy inheritor and charitable figure, her husband, as well as other filthy rich passengers. Presence
Soderbergh tests his creative boundaries in this innovative supernatural story captured wholly from the perspective of a ghost. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe moves into their recent residence, the filming device – as the unseen entity – shadows their actions. Chloe seems conscious of the ghostly being, and the entity appears defensive toward her. However, the motive remains? It's a fun idea that avoids overstaying, featuring a surprise that could catch you off guard. October 11th, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, the Sky channel
This Self-Referential Film
Cage wholeheartedly adopts his unique fame through this meta comedy caper. He plays an egotistical film star named Nicolas Cage who takes on a lucrative offer to appear at a festive event at a Mediterranean location for the wealthy superfan Javi. Recruited by the intelligence agency to investigate the suspected cartel boss, his “nouveau shamanic acting ability” proves useful. Saturday 11 October, evening, on Channel 4
This Creepy Thriller
The director's locked-room horror holds up well even without a follow-up. Set in 1970s Colorado, a series of disappearances has rendered the youth anxious. After Finney is kidnapped by “the Grabber” and imprisoned in a basement, he fears a fatal end. However, the non-functional line in the room continues to ring, with spooky callers giving advice, and the prophetic visions from his sibling Gwen could save him. A solid creepfest. Saturday 11 October, late evening, Film4
The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the victory is clear for materialism in this director's brilliantly over-the-top true story regarding the shamed TV preacher and her felon spouse. The actor acts as the venal Jim, who proclaims initially, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple commence profiting from the American public's religious faith. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, overdone appearance and hypocrisy, yet Jessica Chastain manages to depict the real-life figure with compassion. Next Tuesday, late night, the Film4 channel
The Spy Mystery

Each performer are masters of deadpan cool, resulting in an engaging mental battle of truth or lie develops. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela join in the intelligent intelligence fun. This Friday, various showings, the Sky channel
