Close to 25,000 Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Approximately 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, producing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units working to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately one thousand energy customers in the southern state also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area saw its most precipitation in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams responded to 598 calls for help across the state, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Wyndham region - nearly 180 calls for assistance
At one point on Sunday, more than 28,000 energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent storm activity anticipated across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the region.
